Criminal proceedings launched over Egypt reckless homicide of boy from Voronezh

The investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee for the Voronezh Region have started a criminal investigation into a crime under part 2 of article 109 of the RF Penal Code (reckless homicide due to improper discharge by a person of professional duty).

According to investigators, since 26 June 2014, a 30-year-old woman from Voronezh had a holiday in a hotel in Sharm el-Sheikh in the Arab Republic of Egypt together with her 10-year-old son and a cousin. On 30 June 2014, around 10 AM the said persons were near a swimming pool in the hotel, when the boy felt bad and started to suffocate. The tourists rendered him first medical aid and called the hotel doctor, who arrived at the scene, but rendered no aid. The paramedics did not provide any necessary aid, put the boy in the ambulance and set off for the international hospital of Sharm el-Shaikh. The boy died at hospital on 30 June 2014, around 11:30 AM.

At present a number of necessary investigating operations are underway to find out all the circumstances of the incident, collect and consolidate the evidence. The investigation is kept under control by the senior officials of the regional investigations directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee.
