In Yaroslavl Region former assistant to Rybinsk mayor found guilty of intermediacy in mediation in especially large-scale bribery

A court has recognized the evidence gathered by the investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee for the Yaroslavl Region sufficient to convict former assistant to Rybinsk mayor Gennady Telegin. He was found guilty of a crime under part 4 of article 291.1 of the RF Penal Code (mediation in bribery on an especially large scale).

The court and investigators have found that in July 2013, head of Rybinsk Yuri Lastochkin demanded from the CEO of one of the municipal unitary enterprises a bribe of 2 million rubles for assisting in his managing activity. He was to give the money through the mayor’s assistant. On 15 July and 22 October 2013 Telegin received from the CEO and gave to Latochkin a part of the bribe of 1 million rubles. On 24 October 2013, Telegin was detained while receiving another part of the bribe of 1 million rubles.

The court has given Telegin a suspended sentence of 5 years and a fine of 4 million rubles.

The criminal case against mayor Lastochkin is currently being investigated by the Central Office of the Russia’s Investigative Committee.
