The investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee for the Republic of Kabardino-Balkaria have opened a criminal case against a resident of Prokhladny District suspected of a crime under part 2 of article 208 of the RF Penal Code (membership in a foreign state in an armed group outside the laws of the given state with the purposes contradicting to the interests of the Russian Federation).

According to investigators, in November 2010, the young man born in 1983, went to Egypt and from there later to the Syrian Arab Republic to join illegal armed groups fighting for forceful overthrow of the current regime. The fact that the man was a member of illegal armed groups acting in a foreign state became known from his mother, who followed and contacted him.

At present the investigators are getting ready to put the suspect on an international wanted list and are carrying out urgent investigative operations to find out all the circumstances of the crime.
