In Tver Region head of regional office of Federal Migration Service suspected of exceeding authority

Based on the files provided by the regional office of the Federal Security Service, the Tver Region investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have opened a criminal case against Head of the Tver Region Office of the Federal Migration Service Colonel of internal service Valery Baryshnikov suspected of a crime under part 1 of article 286 of the RF Penal Code (committing actions by an official which obviously lie outside their authority and entailing considerable violation of rights and legal interests of the society or state).

According to investigators, on 24 September 2014, Baryshnikov serving as Head of the Tver Region Office of the Federal Migration Service, used a knowingly forged agreement as the basis to put a person in the state program for granting Russian citizenship in short order, and against the law approved the decision to provide the foreign citizen with Russian citizenship.

At present investigative operations are underway to find out all the circumstances of the crime. The investigation is ongoing.
