Investigators continue working with suspects, witnesses and physical evidence in Falcon crash case

The Main Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee during the investigation in Falcon jet crash at Vnukovo airport killing Total CEO Christophe de Margerie and three crew members, have detained Vnukovo leading flight engineer Vladimir Ledenev, Vnukovo control tower operator Roman Dunayev, flight controller Alexander Kruglov and trainee flight controller Svetlana Krivsun. On the day of the crash Ledenev was in charge of snow clearance, Dunayev, Krivsun and Kruglov of flights.

All of them are suspected of failure to ensure flight and land works security that led to the tragedy. The detainees have been questioned as suspects. It should be noted that no signs of alcohol intoxication has been found on them during a preliminary examination, however they have had tests to determine their state during the work.

As for arrested Vladimir Martynenko, the results of his medical examination have shown 0.6 ppm of alcohol. I would like to point out that all medical tests will be subject to forensic medical examination that will be assigned soon.

At the moment the investigators continue analyzing documents regulating the operation of the airport and duties of the staff. All data of objective control are also being analyzed. The investigators are questioning the witnesses and processing physical evidence, including the snowplough Martynenko was driving at the moment of the crash.

The investigating team includes the most experienced investigators and criminalists of the Main Investigations Directorate and I can assure that the investigation will be conducted on the highest possible level and we will keep the public updated on its progress as much as possible.
