In Saint-Petersburg criminal society liquidated that specialized on crimes against night club clients

Saint-Petersburg Main Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee has launched a criminal investigation into crimes under parts 1, 2, 3 of article 210, part 2 of article 162, paragraphs “a” and “b” of part 4 of article 158 of the RF Penal Code (organization of criminal society and membership in it, burglary, theft).

According to investigators, in 2011, in Saint-Petersburg 32-year-old Yuri Rakh, general director of OOO RosEko (LLC) organized a criminal society involving at least 12 people to commit crimes against clients of competing night clubs.

According to distribution of roles, young women found men and lured them in one of night clubs. Then the accomplices by deceit found out PIN-codes of their credit cards, made them helpless, and after that stole their credit cards and cell phones, withdrew money for allegedly provided services and for buying expensive alcohol drinks. After that the victims were thrown outside.

At present 5 criminal cases are joined in 1 proceeding over stealing over 1.5 million rubles. However, according to the investigators several hundreds of men became victims of the criminal community.

On 25 October 2014, during massive investigating and search operations officials of the Main Investigations Directorate and Saint-Petersburg and Leningrad Region Main Office of the Russian Ministry of Interior carried out over 30 searches, including in night clubs. 3 members of the criminal society were caught at the moment of committing a crime.

Investigators brought about 150 employees of night clubs in investigating bodies to check on having been involved in the crimes.

8 of the suspects have been arrested, 5 of them were released on recognizance.

The investigators are going to assess compliance of activity of night clubs to requirements of current laws. The investigation is ongoing.
