In Ryazan Region mother and stepfather arrested on suspicion of torturing and killing girl

The Ryazan Region investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee continue investigating a criminal case opened in a crime under paragraph “c” of part 2 of article 105 of the RF Penal Code (murder of a minor) following disappearance of a girl born in 2006 in the village of Verki, Kadom District. The girl’s mother and stepfather have been detained on suspicion of the murder. They have been charged with a murder of a minor and a crime under paragraph “d” of part 2 of article 117 of the RF Penal Code (torture).

According to investigators, the 35-year-old woman and her 40-year-old husband had been torturing the girl for a long time by tying her up to prevent her childish pranks as they say. In April 2013, the accused killed the girl. To hide the crime they burned the body in a stove of an abandoned house.

At the request of the investigators the accused have been remanded in custody pending trial. The investigation is ongoing.
