In Sverdlovsk Region local man charged with hooliganism motivated murder placed in custody

The Sverdlovsk Region investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee continue investigating a criminal case over a murder of a citizen during a conflict at a bus stop in the city of Yekaterinburg. Investigators have charged a 35-year-old local resident, working as CEO of a company, with a crime under paragraph “i” of part 2 of article 105 of the RF Penal Code (murder committed out of hooliganism).

Today the investigator has filed a request to place the accused in custody pending trial. A court has granted the request and remanded the accused in custody.

According to investigators, on 30 October 2014, the accused was driving a Toyota Land Cruiser 200 and parked it near a bus stop on Malyshev Street in Yekaterinburg. Two citizens rebuked the man for incorrect parking and the latter started a row. In the middle of the conflict the accused took a non-lethal pistol from his car and shot in the head of one of the men, born in 1958. After that the accused fled the scene in his car. The victim was taken to hospital with a gunshot wound to the back of his head and died there on 10 November 2014.

At present officials of the local Investigative Committee and police crime detection department are taking measures to find out all the circumstances of the crime and consolidate the evidence. They are questioning witnesses and have assigned a number of inquiries, including forensic medical and ballistic ones. The investigation is ongoing.
