Criminal investigations launched in death of civilians in shelling in Donbass and obstruction of legal activity of Russian journalists in Kiev

The Main Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee has launched a criminal investigation into crimes under paragraphs “a”, “c”, “f”, “g”, “k” of part 2 of article 105 of the RF penal Code, part 1 of article 356 (murder of two or more people, use of prohibited ways and methods of warfare) after a local woman and a child born in 2002 were killed in the city of Donetsk during the shelling of a hospital and two homes.

According to investigators, on 27 November 2014, at around 1 PM, unidentified people from the Ukrainian Armed Forces and National Guard shelled from heavy weapons city clinical hospital No 23 on Tselinogradskaya street in the city of Donetsk, two homes on Sayanskaya street and Buturlinovskaya street and adjacent areas. A woman and a child born in 2002 were killed and 5 more civilians were wounded.

Investigators believe that the said officials carried out the shelling for the purpose of killing the national group of Russian-speaking people living in the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic. By doing that they violated a number of international conventions, including the Convention on children’s rights, and the Protocol on Ceasefire in southwest of Ukraine and its Memorandum signed in Minsk last September.

In addition, the Main Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee has launched a criminal investigation in obstruction of legal activity of a journalist of Life news information website in the city of Kiev (article 144 of the RF Penal Code). According to investigators, on 26 November in the evening correspondent Yevgenia Zmanovskaya was attacked by Ukrainian journalists and football fans and today was taken to hospital with a head injury.

Considering that no such crimes have received any proper assessment from official Kiev, those are, to all appearance, examples new self-consciousness of Ukrainian society is raised on. But from the point of view of a normal person all that remind of a collective image of an aggressive impotent – they want something all the time, but can’t do it. So they just take it out on defenseless women and children.
