In Moscow Region charges pressed against two defendants in case in murder of businessman and stealing his estate

The Moscow Region Main Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee has charged Boris Karamatov, a former top manager of businessman Alexander Mineyev and Dmitry Kurilenko, an acquaintance of his, with involvement in murder of Mineyev and frauds with his property.

We remind that on 22 January 2014, at around 1 PM, Moscow businessman Alexander Mineyev was gunned down in his car by unidentified people on one of the central streets in the town of Korolyov. The shots were made at the right passenger seat, where the victim was sitting. The man died on the spot.

During the probe the investigators have managed to reveal that some of the businessman’s employees were involved in frauds with his property. This way, in November 2013, head of the businessman’s legal service Yulia Yegorova conspired with unidentified individuals to steal from their boss the ownership right on a commercial real estate located in the city of Moscow. Secretly she changed the ownership documents causing the businessman damage on a very large scale. When Mineyev found out about the scam, he went to the police, who launched a criminal investigation in the takeover of his property. However, on 22 January 2014, the businessman was killed. Yegorova was charged with a crime under part 4 of article 159 of the RF Penal Code (fraud on a very large scale).

As a result the criminal cases in Mineyev’s murder and stealing of his property have been joined in a single proceeding and sent for further investigation to the Moscow Region Investigations Directorate.

At the request of the investigators a court has ruled to remand Karamatov and Kurilenko in custody pending trial. A number of people are now wanted and then be checked on having been involved in the murder and stealing of Mineyev’s property. The investigation is ongoing.
