Lipetsk Region investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have launched a criminal investigation in improper discharge of their professional duties by officials of Lipetsk Region infectious diseases hospital that entailed death of a baby by negligence (part 2 of article 109 of the RF Penal Code).

In the afternoon on 8 January 2015, a three-month-old boy was delivered in Lipetsk Region infectious diseases hospital with sings of an enteric infection. Later that night the boy died. Investigators have reasons to believe that the boy died because of negligence of medical personnel.

At present all the circumstances of the incident are being established. A number of forensic inquiries are underway to find out the cause of death of the baby. The results of the inquiries will help the investigators to make adequate conclusions. The investigation is ongoing.
