Sentence passed upon former official of Moscow property department and his accomplice found guilty of bribery on a very large scale

A court has recognized the evidence gathered by the Main Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee based in Moscow sufficient to convict former head of Agreement Office of the Moscow Department of Property Denis Vasilyev and Andrey Simonenko. They were found guilty of crimes under part 6 of article 290, part 1 of article 30, part 6 of article 290 of the RF Criminal Code (bribery by an official via an intermediary on a very large scale and preparing for bribery by an official via an intermediary on a very large scale).

The court and investigators have found that in the period between August to November 2012 Vasilyev and Simonenko as members of an organized group together with Vasiliyev’s acquaintance received from a representative of OAO Moscow Trade Network DIAL Electronics and representative of condominium partnership Korobeyniki over 200 thousand US dollars and 1.6 million rubles respectively for signing an additional agreement on extension of lease of buildings in Moscow. Simonenko took the money and gave it to the third accomplice, who then passed it to Vasilyev. In addition, the founder of autonomous non-commercial organization Sadovoye Koltso on the orders of the accused put 50 thousand US dollars in a safe-deposit box as a bribe for signing an additional agreement on extension of lease contract. The money was never passed to the accused as their activity was broken.

The court sentenced Vasilyev to 10 years to be served in a maximum-security penal colony and a fine of 495 million rubles, Simonenko to 8.5 years in a maximum-security penal colony and a fine of 490 million rubles.

The criminal case against the third accomplice has been severed in a separate proceeding and suspended due to serious illness of the accused.
