In Mordovia criminal investigation launched in negligence of officials of prevention system within investigation in death of boy

Investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee for Mordovia within an investigation in the death of a 4-year-old child in Dubyonki Central District Hospital have launched another investigation in negligence of officials of child neglect and underage crimes prevention system (part 2 of article 293 of the RF Penal Code).

We remind that following reports in mass media about the death of the boy in the district hospital the Mordovian investigating bodies launched a criminal investigation in a crime under part 1 of article 109 of the RF Penal Code (reckless homicide).

According to investigators, on 8 January 2015, an emergency team delivered the boy in the hospital, where he later died. The preliminary cause of death is aplastic anemia unspecified. It is known that the family that raised the boy is a problem one and the parents failed to take good care of the child.

During the investigation it became known that officials of child neglect and underage crimes prevention system that are entrusted by Russian law to protect rights and legal interests of minors, had failed to perform their duty properly which then resulted in grave consequences. At present a number of investigative operations are underway to identify the officials guilty of negligence that led to the tragedy.

Investigative operations are underway to find and consolidate evidence. In addition, the investigators are analyzing causes and conditions that contributed to the said crimes.
