In Ryazan Region criminal investigation launched into death of child in hospital

The Ryazan Region investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have launched a criminal investigation in a crime under part 2 of article 109 of the RF Penal Code (reckless homicide caused by improper discharge of professional duties) following the death of a 6-year-old boy in contagious isolation ward of Spassk Central District Hospital.

According to investigators, on 30 November 2014, a mother brought her child at the hospital complaining about fever. The boy was taken to the contagious isolation ward. The nurse made him a shot, after which the boy felt much worse and a short time later he died though doctors tried to resuscitate him.

At present investigative operations are underway to find out the circumstances of the incident and cause of boy’s death. The investigation is ongoing.
