In Yaroslavl Region criminal investigation launched in death of boy at hospital

On 1 November 2014, a 7-year-old boy was hospitalized at Town Children’s Hospital (the town of Rybinsk) with the diagnosis of constipation and cerebral spastic infantile paralysis. A week later the boy died in the intensive care. The cause of death was miliary tuberculosis (the open form of tuberculosis). Since the boy had not been diagnosed with the disease, the doctors had not treated him from it. The Yaroslavl Region investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have launched a criminal investigation into a crime under part 2 of article 109 of the RF Penal Code (reckless homicide due to improper discharge of professional duty).

At present investigating operations are underway to collect and consolidate evidence. Investigators are also going to assess actions (omission) of the hospital staff, who violated requirements of sanitary and epidemiological laws, which was reported by mass media multiple times.
