Case against former Makhachkala Mayor Said Amirov and his accomplices sent to court

The Main Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee has finished investigating a criminal case against mayor of Makhachkala Said Amirov, Yusup Dzhaparov, three Akhmedov brothers, Murad Aliyev, magomed Kadiyev and Subair Mutayev. Depending on their roles they are charged with crimes under part 3 of article 30, paragraphs “a”, “g” and “h” of part 2 of article 105 of the RF Penal Code (attempted murder), article 295 (attempt on the life of an official exuting justice or carrying out a preliminary investigation), part 2 of article 208 (membership in an illegal armed group), part 2 of article 209 (banditry), paragraphs “a” and “c” of part 2 of article 205 (a terrorist attack) and part 3 of article 222 (illegal circulation of firearms).

According to investigators, the accused were involved in plotting a terrorist attack, attempted murder of acting head of a territorial investigative authority of Dagestan Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee Arsen Gadzhibekov and in other serious and very serious crimes committed in Dagestan.

The investigators have gathered enough evidence, so the criminal case with the approved indictment has been sent to court to be tried on the merits.

Earlier the North Caucasian District Military Court has found Amirov and Dzhaparov guilty of plotting a terrorist attack by firing from a Strela 2M shoulder-carried missile launcher at a passenger airplane and sentenced them to 10 and 8.5 years in prison respectively.
