Nizhny Novgorod investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have launched an investigation in a crime under part 3 of article 321 of the RF Penal Code (disorganization of activity of an institution ensuring isolation from society).

According to investigators, on 6 May 2015, in the evening, in the living quarters of psychiatric prison-3 of Nizhny Novgorod Region Main office of the Federal Penitentiary Service located in Krasnye Baki District, several convicts violated normal operation of the facility and used force against other convicts to revenge for assisting the administration. As a result of wrongdoings over 20 convicts were wounded, 14 of whom were taken to hospital. On 7 May, one of the convicts, a 44-year-old man died at hospital of wounds.

At present an investigative team continues investigating the crime scene, they are looking into all the circumstances of the crime. The investigation is under personal control of senior officials of the regional investigations office.
