Russian judo competition among youths under 18 for prizes of Investigative Committee Chairman held in Samara

On 19 September 2015, Alexander Bastrykin, Chairman of the Russia’s Investigative Committee opened Russian judo competitions among youths under 18 years of age in Samara dedicated to the memory of young heroes and officials of the Investigative Committee killed in the line of duty.

In his welcoming speech Mr. Bastrykin noted that during the competitions the main principles remain the same: keeping a team spirit, firmness of sports traditions, honest and uncompromising fight, based on kind and friendly relationship. “I am sure that theses competitions will not be an exception and will allow revealing the best and will contribute to the popularization of this spectacular sport, promotion of values of healthy and active lifestyle, especially among the younger generation. On this day I express deep respect and special gratitude to the families of the officials of the Investigative Committee killed in the line of duty and parents of young heroes Yevgheny Tabakov and Danil Sadykov, who gave their lives to save the others. Our officials gave their most precious they had, they were real officers and Russians who executed their duty to their Motherland till the end. They left families and now the Investigative Committee does its best so that the memory of the heroes of the Investigative Committee does not fade, our loved have fewer troubles, and the memory we keep is embodied in our younger generation. Today, when we live through a hard period of our history, officers of the Russia’s Investigative Committee do their best to make Russia stronger”.

The Governor of Samara Region thanked Mr. Bastyrkin for choosing Samara as the venue for the competitions, confirming that this would allow for more active development of sports in Samara Region and for doing everything so that youths grow healthy, strong and always ready for deeds for the sake of their loved ones.

Vice-President of the Judo Federation of Russia Valenitn Khabirov read the welcoming speech of the Judo Federation President Vasily Anisimov. It noted that Samara had the judo school known across the world and deserved this opportunity to host the important competitions.

The competitions have been held annually on the initiative of the Russia’s Investigative Committee since 2012.

The objective is development of sport, promotion of healthy lifestyle, raising patriotism and civic responsibility among the younger generation. Such events allow for stronger connection and spiritual unity of many generations of the defenders of out Fatherland.

The first tournament was held in 2012 in the town of Noginsk outside Moscow, the home town of Yevgheny Tabakov, the boy who gave his life to protect his sister from a rapist.

The second one was held in 2013 in the city of Kazan, the capital of Tatarstan, the native city of another young hero Danil Sadykov who died saving another child.

The third one was held in 2014 in Ciscaucasia, in the town of Nevinnomyssk, Stavropol Territory, the land with rich sports history that raised several generations of Russian athletes, who have always properly represented our country at most important competitions.

The tradition of judo competitions among children and youths was continued by the capital of Udmurtia, the town of Izhevsk, which hosted the competitions dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Great Patriotic War in April 2015.

The fifth competitions were held in the town of Samara, the gem of the Volga Region. Athletes aged between 15 and 17 years and 14 teams from different regions of the Russian Federation took part. The team from Tyumen won the first place, Tatarstan came second and Samara and Moscow shared the third place.

After the competitions the Investigative Committee Chairman thanked the organizers of their work and wished further success and victories to the athletes, he also awarded the winners prizes.
