Director of Ukrainian Literature Library detained in Moscow

The investigating bodies of the Moscow Main Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative have opened a criminal investigation against 58-year-old Natalya Sharina, suspected of a crime under paragraph “b” of part 2 of article 282 of the RF Penal Code (incitement of nationality hatred and enmity and disparagement).

According to investigators, in 2011-2015, director of The Ukrainian Literature Library Sharina, who is an official, violated Federal Law “On Counteraction to Extremism” spread among the visitors books by Dmitry Korchinsky which had been recognized extremist and banned by a court.

The investigators together with operative services have searched the Library located in Trifonovskaya street in Moscow and confiscated printed matter containing calls for anti-Russian propaganda.

At present the investigators have prepared a request for court to place the suspect in custody. The investigation is ongoing.
