Probe launched in Kamchatka Territory into Mi-2 crash

The investigating bodies of the Far Eastern Transport Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have opened an investigation in a crime under part 2 of article 263 of the RF Penal Code (violation of safety rules for traffic and operation of an aircraft involving death of a person) following a hard landing of a Mi-2 helicopter in Kamchatka Territory/.

According to investigators, on 30 November 2015, at 9:45 AM, local time, a Mi-2 helicopter (hull number RA - 23786) operated by OOO Purga made a hard landing on a helipad in the town of Yelizovo, Kamchatka Territory located near Raduzhny recreation center.

There were 3 people aboard (1 crewmember and 2 passengers). All of them were taken to Yelizovo District Hospital with different injureis. One of them died later.

According to preliminary information, the helicopter was travelling from the airfield of OOO Purga to Dzenzhur recitation center and them to Stol recreation center.

At the present time, investigators are examining the crash scene. They have revealed that the fuselage of the helicopter was deformed, the cockpit was destroyed, blades of the tail and lifting propellers were damaged. The causes for the crash are being looked into. The investigation is ongoing.
