Probe launched in Mi-8 crash near Igarka, Krasnoyarsk Territory

A Turukhan Airlines Mi-8 helicopter travelling to Vankor deposit crashed near the airport of Igarka on 25 November 2015. The Mi-8 failed to come into contact at 10:17 AM. The search party found the helicopter lying on its side on the right bank of the Yenisei River 2 km from the airport of departure. The West Siberian Transport Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee has opened a criminal investigation in a crime under part 3 of article 263 of the RF Penal Code (violaton of safety standards for traffic and operation of an aircraft entailing death of two or more people).

According to preliminary information, the helicopter was carrying 22 passengers and 3 crewmembers. As of now, it is known about 8 victims, including 1 crewmember.

Investigative operations are underway to find out all the details of the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
