Organizer of adulterated alcohol selling detained in Krasnoyarsk

The Krasnoyarsk Territory investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee during the probes in death of people in Krasnoyarsk of adulterated alcohol poisoning have detained another suspect, a 22-year-old man from Krasnoyarsk. He is suspected of a crime under paragraph “c” of part 2 of article 238 of the RF Penal Code (production or selling of unsafe goods or products if it entailed grievous bodily harm or death of a person).

According to investigators, the man is the organizer of wholesale supplies of adulterated alcohol to the city of Krasnoyarsk. According to preliminary data, the suspect received large batches of fake alcohol from Moscow Region and then sold it in smaller quantities via an adjusted network of dealers who in their turn sold it in the Internet. The suspect came to the police to turn himself in. At present the investigators are establishing the channels of supply. Measures are being taken to identify and detain producers of the poisonous alcohol.

It was reported earlier that the Krasnoyarsk Territory investigating bodies also held four residents of Krasnoyarsk – men aged between 22 and 33 years suspected of selling adulterated alcohol in the Internet: they received orders and them delivered the goods. Restraint is expected.

The Krasnoyarsk Territory Main Investigations Directorate is investigating eight criminal cases over death of nine residents of Krasnoyarsk of adulterated alcohol poisoning, and a pre-investigating check is underway in one more death. The victim was a 51-year-old woman who did not buy adulterated whisky, but found several bottles in a dump and drank it. All the victims are residents of Krasnoyarsk: six men and three women.

The investigation is ongoing.
