Alexander Bastrykin holds briefing in Komi Republic

The Chairman of the Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin arrived today at Vorkuta to supervise the investigation into an accident in the Severnaya coal mine that killed miners and rescuers.

Mr. Bastrykin laid flowers to the memorial site and held a minute of silence to commemorate the killed miners and rescuers.

During his working trip, the Chairman held a meeting with the investigative team and representatives of cooperating agencies (the Emergencies Ministry, the Federal Security Service and the Ministry of the Interior), where he heard reports on the progress of the investigation and set a task to look into all possible versions of the accident, paying special attention to finding out the reasons and conditions that had contributed to the tragedy.

Mr. Bastrykin assumed personal control over the investigation.
