In Khabarovsk Territory, probe launched into death of 9-year-old boy

The Khabarovsk Territory Office of the Investigative Committee has launched a criminal investigation into a crime under Part 2 of Article 216 of the RF Penal Code (violation of safety standards during mining, construction or other kind of work, entailing death of a person by negligence) after the dead body of a 9-year-old boy was found.

According to the investigation, the body of the 9-year-old boy was found on 26 March 2016, in a 2.5-meter-deep water-filled foundation pit in the settlement of Muchurinskoye, Khabarovsk District. The pit was dug by a company to build a gas-supply system. The pit was not fensed. Presumably, the boy fell into the pit while walking around.

The operational support is being provided by the officers of the Khabarovsk Territory Office of the Interior Ministry.

By now the boy’s parents, representatives of the settlement administration and the company that performed the work have been questioned. A forensic medical inquiry has been assigned. At the moment, the investigators are confiscating the documents from the settlement administration that permitted the work. The investigation is ongoing.
