Experienced criminalists of Central Office of Investigative Committee join in investigation over dead girl found in Sverdlovsk Region

The Sverdlovsk Region Office of the Investigative Committee continues a criminal investigation into a crime under Part 2, item “c” of Article 105 of the RF Penal Code (murder of a minor) after 13-year-old Kyzy Aiganysh Kanat went missing in early January 2016.

On the evening of 3 April 2016, the police got a report that a dead body of an unknown girl was found by one of local residents near garages in Ishimsky Lane. The girl matched the distinctive marks given for missing Kyzy Aiganysh Kanat. An examination of the crime scene and the body found no traces of violent death. A forensic medical inquiry is going to be run to determine the exact cause of death as well as necessary DNA tests will be run to identify the girl.

Along with investigators and criminalists of the regional office of the Investigative Committee experienced criminalists of the Criminalistics Department of the Investigative Committee are taking part in examination of the crime scene and other operations. A set of expert light and other search sets designed for detecting poorly visible traces, a camera detector and 3D photography are being used.

According to investigators, on 4 January 2016, about 9:30 PM, the said girl left a food store located in block of flats No 117 in Sofyi Perovskoi Street in the city of Yekaterinburg and nobody has seen her since then. The criminal case was initiated to find out all the details of what had happened and to mobilize forces and resources for search operations.

At present the investigation is ongoing.
