In Samara, four local residents found guilty of killing founder of Region 63 holding and other crimes

A court has recognized the evidence gathered by the Samara Region Office of the Investigative Committee sufficient to convict Sergei Dogadin, Sergei Kozayev, Vyzcheslav Kalistratov and Maksim Kolesnikov. Depending on the role of each one, the men were found guilty of crimes under Part 5 of Article 33, Part 2, item “h” of Article 105, Part 2, item “h” of Article 105 of the RF Penal Code (complicity in a murder, contract murder out of mercenary motive), Part 4, item “b” of Article 158 (stealing committed by an organized group on a very large scale), Part 2 of Article 22e, (illegal purchase, storage, transportation and carrying of firearms, ammunition by a group of people in previous collision).

The court and investigators have revealed that in early August 2013, Kozayev conspired with an unidentified person to kill a resident of the town of Samara who was also the founder of Region 63 holding selling alcohol in Samara Region and in other regions of the Russian Federation for a reward of 200,000 US dollars. To accomplish the planned crime the man hired Kalistratov, Kolesnikov, Dogadin and another one of his acquaintances. The men distributed the roles in the crime and bought two Makarov and Tokarev guns, ammunition to each of them, 5 black balaclavas, 5 pairs of gloves, mobile phones and SIM cards, 5 sets of camouflage uniforms, plastic cuffs and handcuffs to cuff the victim. On 10 October 2013, in the village of Kozelki, Krasnoglinsky District of Samara the killers attacked the holding founder, handcuffed him and put in the car. They took him far away from the motorway, where Kozayev killed him. After that they stole over 1 million rubles cash in different currency from him and took off.

A huge number of investigative operations were carried out during the investigation, dozens of forensic inquiries, hundreds of questionings, seizures and other procedural operations. The lawyers of the accused fed to mass media the allegation about illegal actions of law-enforcement officials and improper investigation. However, their arguments were not confirmed and were refuted during the investigation.

The files against the 33-year-old accomplice and the person who ordered the crime were severed to form a separate law suit which is still under a preliminary investigation. In June 2015, the case against Dogadin, Kozayev, Kalistratov and Kolesnikov was referred to court. The jury announced them and other accomplices of the murder guilty.

The court has sentenced Dogadin to 18 years in prison, Kozayev to 23 years, Kalistratov to 19 years and Kolesnikov to 16 years to be served in a maximum-security penal colony.
