The investigation bodies of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Novosibirsk region in interaction with operational employees of the criminal investigation department of the main department of internal affairs for the Novosibirsk region have managed to prove involvement of a 51-year old local in commission of murders of girls with bodies disincorporation in the territory of Novosibirsk from 1998 to 2006 after perennial painstaking work. Charges of commission of 17 incidents in violation of Article 105, part 2, item "a" of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (killing of two and more persons) were pressed against him.
Investigators believe that in the period from 1998 to 2006 the 51-year old local who had sexual relations with victims, murdered them. To conceal signs of crime the man took measures to conceal victims' bodies disincorporating them and leaving its parts in different parts of Novosibirsk and the Novosibirsk region.
Around 10 years of thorough labor of employees of regional I.C. of Russia and operational employees of the department of the Interior Ministry were required to solve this crime. During training of a joint plan of measures samples of more than 5 thousand men for reaserch have been received, more than 3 thousand witnesses have been interrogated, based on the received samples over 300 molecule-genetic expert examination have been appointed, a range of other investigation-trial actions and investigative events have been undertaken.
On the basis of the expert-forensics division and DNA laboratory of the Russia's I.C. department for the Novosibirsk region additional research of all the material proofs in the course of which the genotype of an alleged murderer had been received was conducted with use of modern forensics technology. At comparison to genotypes of 5 thousand received samples of men a coincidence of the accused sample to genotypes found on physical evidence of the criminal case has been determined. In the course of joint investigation-operation events the 51-year old man was detained in Novosibirsk.
At present in order to strengthen evidentiary base more than 10 searches in places of permanent and temporary residence of the accused at which the objects representing interest had been excluded were conducted by the investigators and operational employees. Causes and conditions which were contributing to commission of the crime are being determined. By an investigator's motion pre-trial restrictions in form of placement under guard have been chosen with respect to an accused by the court. The investigation of the criminal case continues.
