The Sverdlovsk Region Office of the Investigative Committee has initiated criminal proceedings against a 64-year-old local resident suspected of a crime under Part 1 of Article 109 of the RF Penal Code (reckless murder).

According to preliminary information, on the morning of 28 July 2016, a woman was going by a block of flats in Yesenin Boulevard when a metallic construction fell on her and severely injured from the balcony of the flat on the 16^th floor where the suspect lived. The woman died on the night of 29 July 2016 at hospital No 36 in the city of Yekaterinburg as a result of her injuries.

Currently an investigator of the regional investigative office is carrying out necessary operations to register the evidence and find out all the details and causes of the incident. The victim’s body has been sent for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death and witnesses are being questioned. The investigator is also now requesting the characteristics of the suspect. The suspect has been questioned, and now is confirming them at the incident scene. The restraint is being decided on. The investigation is continued.
