In Khabarovsk Territory, local resident found guilty of killing man by generally dangerous way

A court has recognized the evidence gathered by the Khabarovsk Territory Office of the Investigative Committee sufficient to convict a 32-year-old man. He was found guilty of crimes under part 2, item “f” of Article 105 (murder committed by a generally dangerous way), Part 3 of Article 30, Part 2, items “a” and “f” of Article 105 (attempted murder), Part 2 of Article 167 (deliberate destruction of another’s property), Part 1 of Article 222.1 of the RF Penal Code (illegal storage of explosives).

The court and investigators have revealed that on 16 June 2015, the accused came to shop Peresvet in the settlement of Elban and quarreled there with his ex-girlfriend who worked in the shop as a salesperson. The woman asked a loader to take the man out the shop. The accused said that he would blow up the shop and pulled safety pin from an improvised bomb. The loader snatched the bomb out of his hands and tried to take it outside, but couldn’t, the bomb exploded. The two men with multiple injuries were taken to hospital. Despite the efforts of doctors, the 49-year-old loader died.

During the probe, the accused said that he had not meant to kill anybody, but had only wanted to scare his ex-girlfriend. He also claimed that he had found the bomb on a wasteland on the outskirts of the settlement.

It should be noted, that before that, the man had been prosecuted for threatening to kill the same woman. The man is unemployed, but used to work at an explosive disposal enterprise.

The operative assistance to the investigators has been provided by officers of the Khabarovsk Region Office of the Interior Ministry.

The court has sentenced the man to 21.5 years in a special-security correctional facility.
