In Maritime Territory, probe finished against man charged with killing child

The Maritime Territory Office of the Investigative Committee has finished the investigation against a 25-year-old man charged with crimes under Part 4, item “b” of Article 132 (sexual abuse), Part 4, item “b” of Article 131 (rape) and Part 2, items “c” and “j” of Article 105 of the RF Penal Code (murder).

According to investigators, the drunk accused met a 12-year-old girl in a settlement in Shkotinsky District, Maritime Territory. He asked her to give him directions for a railway station and the girl agreed to help him. On their way, the man hit the girl several times on her head and blocked her nose and mouth. He raped her and then killed in an attempt to conceal the crime.

The global work done by investigators to solve the crime should be mentioned. They enabled the Investigative Committee’s DNA laboratory in Khabarovsk which studied some 1,700 saliva samples taken from the male population of the settlement of Shkotovo. One of the samples matched the one taken from the accused. Additionally, clothes he was wearing during the crime and other objects confirming his involvement were confiscated from the man’s flat during a search.

The investigators have enough evidence, so the criminal case with the signed indictment is going to be referred to court.

Police officers provided operative support.
