Investigative Committee goes on with investigation into violation of anti-doping code

The Head Office of the Investigative Committee continues the investigation of criminal cases opened into violations of anti-doping code.

Investigators have questioned more than 50 Russian athletes, their coaches and managers, received information on their medical examinations. They are now questioning officials of the Russian Ministry of Sport, senior officials and staff of the Rusathletics, the Russian Anti-Doping Agency RUSADA and the Anti-Doping Center responsible for meeting international doping requirements, selection standards, analysis and storage of doping samples in Russia. Their offices have been searched.

During these investigations the Investigative Committee is open for cooperation with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and with other investigational and foreign competent organizations.

Information and paperwork concerning the storage and opening of doping sample bottles have been requested from Berlinger Corporation, a manufacturer of Bereg Kit doping sample bottles. The investigators with the help of expert researches will check the information provided by WADA that the said bottles were tampered with.

Decisions have been requested from the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne made following consideration of actions filed by Russian athletes, The Russian Olympic Committee and the Russian Paralympic Committee against decisions on disqualification and suspension from official sports competitions including the Summer Olympic Games 2016 in Rio de Janeiro.

The Russian investigators are executing the request of legal assistance from the High Court of Paris concerning the criminal case opened against officials of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) charged with corruption and concealing the facts of doping use.

For impartial and thorough investigation, highly-qualified experts and specialists are involved in the operations. The Investigative Committee also addresses to all citizens who have any information on doping investigations and asks them to give it to investigators. At the same time, the Investigative Committee is going to continue constructive cooperation with respective NGOs, including the RF Independent Public Anti-Doping Commission what concerns the exchange of information about previously revealed violations of anti-doping code by Russian athletes.
