Probe finished in death of child in Moscow fitness center

The Moscow Directorate of the Investigative Committee has finished an investigation against general director of a sports club Sergei Roshchupkin and manager Irina Ter-Akopyan charged with providing unsafe services under Part 1 of Article 238 of the RF Penal Code.

According to investigators, on 3 December 2015, about 5 PM, a trainer did not pay attention to a 9-year-old boy who stayed in the swimming pool after a swimming lesson in a sports club in Krasnoarmeiskaya Street in Moscow. Sometime later the staff found the boy in water without signs of life. A forensic medical examination showed that the boy died of drowning.

A forensic medical, two construction and technical, as well as legal inquiries were run and allowed the investigators to get the evidence of guilt of sports club’s managers.

The investigators studied job descriptions of regulating actions of the staff and conduct in the swimming pool and found that the staff had failed to do their job properly which led to the tragedy.

The investigators have enough evidence so the criminal case has been forwarded for the indictment to be signed and will be then referred to court.
