In Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area, probe launched in attack on paramedic

Following an order of the Investigative Committee’s senior officials, the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area Office has opened an investigation in a crime under Article 116 of the RF Penal Code after some media reported an attack on a paramedic. It is known that on the might of 13 February, a man injured a paramedic who had arrived to attend an emergency call in the town of Surgut.

This is not the first attack on EMTs today. As became known earlier, in the town of Yaroslavl a drunken man assailed a paramedic who was trying to help him. The Investigative Committee has opened an investigation in battery under Article 116 of the RF Penal Code. The suspect has been detained and is now being interrogated.

The senior officials of the Investigative Committee are supervising this and other similar investigations in attacks on doctors.

Medical personnel have recently become targets for patients and their relatives or have gotten involved in traffic conflicts provoked by drivers who refuse to let an ambulance van pass or other distressful situations. In most of such cases, attacks of medical workers do harm to not only doctors, but can cost life to those whom they have arrived to help. The Chairman of the Investigative Committee has demanded an instant respond to all violations of rights of doctors and that procedural decisions should be made if there are enough legal grounds to do that.
