Alexander Bastrykin assumes personal control over probes in deaths of senior citizens in Sakha Republic (Yakutia) and Moscow Region

Chairman of the Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin has assumed a personal control over criminal cases opened in deaths of senior citizens in the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) and Moscow Region. Mr. Bastrykin has demanded from his subordinates an impartial and thorough investigation in such outrageous instances.

As became known earlier, the Sakha Republic Office of the Investigative Committee opened an investigation in negligent homicide due to malpractice under Part 2 of Article 109 of the RF Penal Code after the death of a 42-year-old man on the porch of a retirement home.

The Moscow Region Office is now looking into the death of an 83-year-old woman that occurred on 8 February 2017 in Shchelkovo District Hospital No 1 (Part 2 of Article 293 of the RF Penal Code – negligence entailing death of a person).

Both cases are dealing with criminal negligence on the part of responsible persons of both the hospital in Moscow Region and the retirement home in the Sakha (Yakutia). Investigators are going to find all the guilty ones who will be prosecuted whatever their positions.
