The day before the Chairman of the Investigative Committee ordered a check into the actions of so-called debt collectors, the Saint Petersburg Directorate of the Investigative Committee therefore has taken over the investigation opened in destruction and damage of property under Part 1 of Article 167 of the RF Penal Code.

According to preliminary information, on the night of 25 March 2017, some unidentified people, calling themselves debt collectors, poured some PU foam in key holes of several flats. They also stuck some notices explaining that residents had to pay the debt of one of the tenants. In the morning some of the residents could not leave their flats.

At present, investigative and search operations are underway to find out all the circumstances surrounding the crime.
