Probe launched in recent shelling of civilian infrastructure by Ukraine army in Donbass

The Department for investigating crimes connected to the use of prohibited ways and means of warfare of the Investigative Committee’s Head Office has discovered new crimes committed by the Ukrainian military men against civilians in Donbass.

In the period of time between 17 and 29 March military men of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and National Guards executed the criminal orders given by the Ukraine’s Defense Ministry and fired heavy artillery weapons at civilian infrastructure in Donetsk Region. A woman was killed and seven more civilians were injured in the shelling. More than 48 buildings, including houses were damaged or completely destroyed.

Investigators opened an inquiry in the use of prohibited ways and methods of warfare under Part 1 of Article 356 of the RF Penal Code.

The investigators believe that all those crimes were committed for political and ideological reasons, because people in southeastern Ukraine refuse to recognize the current authority of Ukraine.

The Russian Investigative Committee continues documenting crimes against the civilian population in Donbass, collect evidence and identify the officials involved. There is no doubt that all those involved in the past and recent shelling of civilian infrastructure are going to be brought to justice sooner or later.
