The Department for investigating crimes connected to the use of prohibited means and methods of warfare of the Investigative Committee’s Head Office together with the Federal Security Service and the Interior Ministry has conducted a number of investigative and search operations to get enough evidence that a resident of Udmurtia named Vyacheslav Donguzov and a resident of Arkhangelsk Region named Vyacheslav Yasev were involved in the activity of the Right Sector, an extremist organization prohibited in Russia by the decision of the RF Supreme Court.

Based on that evidence, criminal proceedings have been initiated against the said persons suspected of membership in an extremist organization under Part 2 of Article 282.2 of the RF Penal Code.

According to investigators, Donguzov and Yasev supported the aims of the Right Sector and in different periods of time left Russia for Ukraine. There they were accepted as soldiers to the Ukrainian volunteer corps of the Right Sector and started fighting in southeastern Ukraine against the self-declared Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republic. They were provided with firearms, ammunition, communication means and vehicles.

The investigators keep on identifying and prosecuting Russian citizens who have joined the Right Sector.
