Head of Moscow Region Directorate of Health Ministry suspected in bribery

The Moscow Region Office of the Russian Investigative Committee has launched a criminal investigation against the Head of the Moscow Region Directorate of the Health Ministry and several representatives of commercial organizations, who is suspected in bribery in especially large amount under Part 6 of Article 290, bribe taking in large amount under Item C, Part 5 of Article 290, bribe taking in considerable amount under Part 2 of Article 290, giving of a bribe in especially large amount under Part 5 of Article 291, giving of a bribe in large amount under Item B, Part 4 of Article 291 and bribe giving in considerable amount under Part 2 of Article 291 of the RF Penal Code.

According to investigators, the official of the Health Ministry’s Moscow Region Directorate in the period from 2016 to 2017, with intention to gain profit, numerous times took bribes from representatives of commercial organizations for favor and overall protection of their businesses.

From September 2016 to February 2017 representatives of commercial organizations gave more than 2 million rubles to the Head of the Directorate as a payment to get a certificate, which allows rendering medical services, as well as payment for guaranteed victory on auctions for the right to supply medical institutions.

These unlawful actions were prevented by Economical Safety and Corruption Counteraction Directorate of the Moscow Region Police Department, all persons involved were detained.

Investigators searched businesses of all suspects, where they found and seized documents and money. Measure of restraints for the suspects is being decided. Investigative operations are underway to determine all the consequences surrounding committed crimes. Criminal investigation continues.
