Probe launched in negligence during searches for disabled child in Yaroslavl Region

The Yaroslavl Region Office of the Investigative Committee has opened an investigation in a crime under Part 293 of the RF Penal Code after negligence of operative agents searching for a 12-year-old autistic boy.

On the evening of 30 April 2017, police got a report that the 12-year-old disabled boy went missing in the village of Nazaryevo, Nekouz District, Yaroslavl Region after he had gone to ride his bike that afternoon.

According to preliminary data, operative agents failed to organize the search properly, to timely notify rescue services, volunteer organizations and other law-enforcement authorities about the missing boy. Due to their criminal negligence the boy’s body was found a few days later 5 km away.

The investigators are going to give tough legal assessment to the actions of the operatives responsible for organizing the search which could have prevented the boy’s death, if they had reported him missing in time.

In addition, the regional investigative authority continues investigative the boy’s murder under Part 2, item “c” of Article 105 of the RF Penal Code. Investigative operations are underway to find out all the circumstances surrounding the crime, forensic medical, biological and other examinations have been ordered.
