The Chelyabinsk Region Office of the Investigative Committee has taken over from the police materials of a check into injuring a 41-year-old resident of Kartaly District and a 2^nd group invalid.

The check revealed that on 24 April 2017, the man came to a shop in Traktorozavodskoy District in the town of Chelyabinsk. Security guards, including a 27-year-old guard employed from a private security firm, suspected the man of shoplifting, took the man to the basement and kicked and hit him at least 30 times on the head, body and limbs leaving bruises and scratches.

The regional investigative authority has opened an investigation in abuse of power by an employee of a private security firm using violence under Part 2 of Article 203 of the RF Penal Code.

Investigators have conducted some investigative operations with participation of the injured party and the 27-year-old suspect. The suspect has been released on recognizance. Now the investigators are checking if other security guards were involved in the battery. The investigation is ongoing.
