Former director of Irkutsk swimming center to stand trial for sex crimes against children in Russian regions

The Head Office of the Investigative Committee has finished criminal proceedings against Eduard Rukosuyev, charged with sex crimes and crimes against public morality under Part 4, item “b” of Article 132 (25 counts), Part 2 of Article 134 (3 crimes), Part 4 of Article 134 (3 counts), Part 2 of Article 135 (3 counts), Part 2 of Article 135, Part 3 of Article 125 (5 counts), Part 1 of Article 242.2 (11 counts), Part 2, item “c” of Article 242.2 (15 counts), Part 2, items “a” and “c” of Article 242.2 (4 counts), Part 3 of Article 160 of the RF Criminal Code.

According to investigators, between 2008 and 2015, Rukosuyev while being a PE instructor at school and a senior coach at a swimming center in the town of Irkutsk committed rapes, molestation and sodomy against minors in Irkutsk Region, Buryatia, the cities of Moscow and Saint Petersburg. The victims attended his swimming group and went to competitions and team practice sessions with him. In addition, Rukosuyev used the children to make porno.

The investigators found out that in 2014, while being director of the swimming center he embezzled budget funds.

The accused was placed in custody pending trial and was dismissed from all his positions in spring and summer of 2015.

At present, the investigators have enough evidence so the criminal case with the signed indictment has been referred to court.
