Alexander Bastrykin orders Head Office to take over probe in traffic accident in Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area that claimed live of teenager

Considering wide public resonance and criticism by mass media of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area Office of the Investigative Committee and for thorough and impartial investigation, Chairman of the Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin has given an order to the Central office to take over the case over a traffic accident that claimed life of a teenager.

As became known earlier, the traffic accident involving a UAZ car driven by a traffic police officer and a motorbike ridden by a 15-year-old boy happened on 29 September 2017 about 4 PM in the settlement of Peregrebnoye, Oktyabrskoye District.

By now, the traffic police officer has been charged with driving under influence causing death of a person under Part 4 of Article 264 of the RF Criminal Code. He is also charged with negligence under Part 1 of Article 293 of the RF Criminal Code as aware that there was a teenager riding a motorbike without driving license in his area of responsibility, he failed to take steps to stop the motorbike which led to the accident.

The investigators are going to carefully look into the circumstances surrounding the accident and register all the evidence, as well as check legality of a number of investigative operations.
