In Novosibirsk, man to stand trial for murder he committed 13 years ago

One of priorities of the Investigative Committee is investigating and solving crimes committed years ago. Investigators and criminalists constantly analyze such crimes, give instructions to the inquiry office to carry out investigative and search operations to find the guilty ones.

The Novosibirsk Region Office of the Investigative Committee in conjunction with police officers has established that a man was involved in a 2003 murder. The case has been referred to court.

The evidence in the suspended investigation was analyzed again and together with operative services a decision was made to check close relations of the missing man. The relatives were invited to be questioned using a lie detector. The victim’s son realized that he was not able to get through the questioning and talked his relative to confess to the murder. However, the latter one gave a confused account of the crime and failed to point to the exact place he had buried the body.

Later, the investigators were able to prove that the 39-year-old son of the victim was involved in the murder. He showed the place where he had buried the body and told the investigators the details of the crime. He had buried the body in the woods in Pervomaisky District of Novosibirsk and after that the man had been reported as missing.

According to investigators, on 4 August 2004, the accused was at home in Pervomaisky District of Novosibirsk with his 61-year-old father. The two men quarreled, and the accused grabbed his father by the neck and started to choke him. The older man died at the scene.

The investigators have enough evidence, so the criminal case with the signed indictment has been referred to court.
