Investigation of a probe into EMERCOM officer accused of negligence completed

The Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia finished investigation of a criminal case against Pavel Tigeev, a senior state inspector of the state fire supervision department of the Ministry of Emergencies of Russia in the Tyumen Region. He is accused of committing an offense under Part 3 of Article 293 of the Criminal Code of Russia (negligence).

According to the investigation, Tigeev knew that an illegal boarding house for the elderly was located in the territory he served. From 2019 to 2021, he did not take measures in order to suppress violations of fire safety requirements that were allowed in it. All this was the result of an unfair attitude towards the service and improper performance of his duties. His negligence led to the fact that on January 9 this year, a fire broke out in the boarding house, during which 7 elderly people with limited mobility were killed.

The investigators collected enough evidence for the criminal case to be transferred to court.

Earlier, a criminal case against Olga Williamson, who organized an illegal boarding house, was sent to the court. She is accused of illegal business, providing services that do not meet safety requirements, causing death by negligence and destruction of other people's property by negligence.
