The Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation continues to investigate the criminal case of genocide of the peoples of the Soviet Union during the Great Patriotic War. Investigators are working to uncover new facts and circumstances of Nazi crimes in different regions of the Russian Federation and to gather the necessary evidence.
During the Great Patriotic War monstrous crimes against humanity were committed not only on the territory of the modern Russian Federation, but also on the territory of the former republics of the Soviet Union, including Belarus. Extensive work was carried out on the territory of the Republic by the Extraordinary State Commission for the Establishment and Investigation of the Atrocities of the German Nazi Invaders.
Given the commonality of historical roots and the victory over the Nazi invaders, the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus understand the need and significance of work to preserve the historical truth and to investigate the crimes committed by the occupiers during the Great Patriotic War.
Not all criminals were convicted by the International Military Tribunal in Nuremberg and other post-war trials: many Nazis guilty of committing atrocious crimes, unfortunately, managed to flee from justice and escape punishment. Therefore, the Investigative Committee considers it necessary to continue to identify all the perpetrators, while implementing the principle of inevitability of punishment.
The Investigative Committee of Russia will do its best to investigate all the facts of genocide of the peoples of the Soviet Union and will assist the investigative bodies of the Republic of Belarus in this work.
Whether the criminals are alive or not, we have to call their names.
