Mr. Alexander Ivanovich Bastrykin, Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia, instructed to launch a criminal case in connection with the demolition of the monument to soldiers-liberators in Brzeg, Republic of Poland.
According to media reports, the demolition of the monument was funded by the Institute of National Remembrance of Poland. The organization's spokesman, Mr. Rafal Leszkiewicz, said that the monument in Brzeg is the 24th out of 60 that have been identified as to be demolished.
Actions to destroy the monument to Soviet soldiers are directed against the interests of the Russian Federation in subjective to preserving the historical memory of the activities of the USSR during the Second World War and the decisive role in the victory over Nazism.
Mr. A.I. Bastrykin, Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia, instructed the investigators to give a legal assessment of the actions, who took the decision to demolish the monument in order to bring them to justice.
