Pre-investigation check into a plane crash in Leningrad region

On August 20, 2011, about 3:20 a.m. a Yak-18 plane crashed near Ropsha village, Lomonosovsky district. A pilot and 3 passengers were killed. The North-Western Transport Investigation Department of the Russian Investigative Committee is conducting a pre-investigation check into the tragedy.

According to preliminary data, the place took off from the training airfield in Gostilitsy village of Lomonosovsky district. According to airfield head the flight was authorized.

At present, employees of Lomonosovsky Investigation Department of the Russian IC for Leningrad region and detectives and criminologists of North-Western Transport Investigation Department of the Russian IC are working on the scene. Procedural decision will be made on the check results.
