In Sverdlovsk region head of kindergarten where mass outbreak of disease among children and teachers took place charged with crime against human health

The investigative bodies of the Russian Investigative Committee for the Sverdlovsk region have brought a charge against a 55-year old head of kindergarten No. 39 “Rodnichok” in Tsementny village of Nevyansky district, in a crime under part 1 of article 236 of the Russian Criminal Code (violation of sanitary and epidemiological rules resulted in mass diseases of people).

According to the information of the investigation, in the period from 13 September to 6 October 2011, the accused, rendering pre-school education services in the said kindergarten, violated sanitary and epidemiological rules which resulted in dysentery disease of 77 children of less than 3 years old and 3 members of staff. The outbreak and the development of the disease were instigated by the kitchen staff who grossly violated sanitary and epidemiological rules and cooking methods.

At the moment, the investigator is performing a complex of procedural actions to complete the investigation, after which the case will be forwarded for the bill of particulars to be approved and then to the court.
