The investigative bodies of the Volga Inter-Regional Environmental Investigation Department of the Russian Investigative Committee is carrying out a pre-investigation check into a chlorine lick at the factory “Korund” in the town of Dzerzhinsk of the Nizhny Novgorod region.

At the moment, it is known that today, during the ordinary discharge of chlorine out of a rail tank car in the stationary storehouse the production valve bellows has lost pressure. The chlorine licked into the storehouse and started to evaporate into the atmosphere. The enterprise workers are trying to contain pollution. Several people became intoxicated and appealed for medical treatment, one of was taken to the hospital.

Check is being continued. A procedural decision will be made after the check is completed.
