The 517^th Military Investigations Department of the Russia’s Investigative Department is carrying out a pre-investigation check into the fire in air force military training and research center of Professor N.Y. Zhukovsky and Y.A. Gagarin Air Force Academy.

It is established, that OOO YugVtorCherMet (LC) on the basis of an agreement with OAO Slavyanka (OJSC) cut the details of aircrafts stored in the shed of the training center building, models of bombs and other weapons. According to workers on 5 July 2012 during the said operations the electricity wire caught fire. The fire quickly spread all over the shed and then to the building of the center itself. According to preliminary data nobody was hurt. The damage is going to be established.

At the moment military investigators are in the Academy. Building materials are smoldering at the fire scene, there is also a threat that the shed would collapse. After the fire scene would be rendered harmless the military investigators together with the specialists will start examining the scene. A procedural decision will be made after the check.
